Bac Giang establishes safe lychee supply chain

The People’s Committee in the northern province of Bac Giang has assigned the Department of Science and Technology to consult, propose and order the provincial level science and technology task

It is “Researching the application of herbal originated and environmental friendly nano plant protection products (PPP) to prevent Colletotrichum Gloeosporrioides Penz disease (CGPD) and eliminate the consequences of Peronophythora litchii disease to set up a safe lychee supply chain in Bac Giang province”.

The execution cost is estimated at about 1.5 billion VND (64,300 USD) mobilized from the provincial budget for Science and Technology and the reciprocal capitals of enterprises and locals.

Accordingly, the thesis mostly focuses on creating the formula to make up the effective PPP in preventing fungi Colletotrichum.ss causing CGPD on lychee tree; researching suitable technology process to produce herbal PPP with the scale of 50 kilograms of products per batch and piloting the new PPP in 6 hectares of early ripen and main crop lychee in Tan Yen and Luc Ngan district.

Additionally, it targets to build the nano herbal preparing process; establish one model using the herbal PPP to prevent CGPD and increase the output by 5-10 percent while reducing the environmental pollution (water, soil and air) due to the usage of chemical fertilizers and PPP during lychee cultivation.

The Department of Science and Technology has cooperated with Luc Ngan district People’s Committee and Hi-Tech Development Center (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) to execute the task in 2019.
