Export value of fruit and vegetables increases

The export value of fruit and vegetables reached US$620 million in the first two months of 2018, up 47.6% annually, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The latest statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show that the country has exported over 293,000 tonnes since the beginning of the year, a 47% annual increase.

The main fruits exported from Vietnam are dragon fruit, longan, mango, durian, and watermelon, with market shares of 37%, 22%, 8%, 7%, 5%, respectively.

The country’s fruit and vegetables were exported to over 60 countries and territories worldwide and have become key export products of Vietnam.

China is the leading importer, accounting for 79.54% of the total fruit and vegetable export value, followed by the US, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia.
