Farmed Pangasius export increased by more than 10% in the first 5 months of the year

According to VASEP, by the end of May 2021, the total export value of Pangasius reached a total of 600 million USD, an increase of 10% compared to the same period in 2020. The main import market for Vietnam Pangasius increased rapidly during this time is China, the US, Brazil and Thailand. 

More specifically, the total export value to Brazil reached 27 million USD, Thailand reached 26 million USD, with an increase of 38,7% and 8,5% compared to the same period last year. The US market has also increased import Vietnam Pangasius since early 2021. In May, total export value to the US increased more than 120% compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of 35 million USD.

The total export value of Vietnam Pangasius to Hong Kong (China) market by the end of May also reached 146 million USSD, accounted for more than 24% total export value of Vietnam Pangasius. This market returned to the leading position in the top of the largest Pangasius import market of Vietnam enterprise. 

According to Mr.Truong Dinh Hoe, General Secretary of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, the reason behind the success of Pangasius import recently is having Covid-19 vaccine to control the pandemic, economic trade of many countries has recovered and so is the export of Vietnam Pangasius. Pangasius exports are forecasted to continue to grow because the importing countries can control the pandemic.
