Government chief requests surprise inspection of rice exports
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has instructed the Government Inspectorate to launch an urgent inspection into the observance of legal regulations regarding the recent state management of rice exports.
The request comes after the Government issued a document on April 20 which outlines PM Phuc’s opinion on recent rice export activities.
The purpose of the inspection is to identify whether or not there are any signs of profiteering or other negative acts taking place, and to strictly handle them in accordance with the law. Simultaneously, it is hoped that information can be clarified regarding the publicity and transparency of customs procedures and the registration of customs declarations when firms export rice.
The PM has therefore requested that relevant agencies report the findings of the investigation back to him in June.
Alongside the request, Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung signed Document No. 4763 for submission to Minister of Public Security To Lam which aims to conduct an investigation into negative information relating to rice export activities.
As a means of ensuring the objective and transparent management of rice exports, the Ministry of Finance has asked that the Minister of Public Security direct functional agencies to consider, investigate, and clearly verify content. This is to be done in order to strictly handle all acts involving organisations and individuals who violate the law, whilst also dealing with those who provide false or misleading information.
