Highlight of hi-tech agriculture

According to the assessment of North Tan Uyen district’s Division of Economics, hi-tech application into production has greatly contributed to improving the effectiveness of agricultural production, creating sustainable steps for the local agriculture.

Hi-tech application promoted

Over the past years, North Tan Uyen district’s agro-forestry production value reached the annual growth of 3.7%-41.%. The district’s agricultural production value over the past 7 months was estimated at VND943billion, up 3.76% compared to the same period last year.

The district has also implemented a project on the restructuring of agriculture in association with policies on developing infrastructure facilities, citrus fruit orchards, hi-tech agricultural models…

So far, the district’s total area for perennial tree growing has reached 23,797 hectares, including 21,199 hectares of rubber trees and more than 2,000 hectares of fruit trees, 194.6 hectares of cashew trees…The whole district is now home to 65 cultivation farms with 1,213 hectares. The district’s agricultural production value has gained VND70million-VND75million per hectare per year. The production value of citrus fruit tree growing area herein has reached around VND600million-VND1billion per hectare per year.

Over the past time, the district also attached special importance to promoting linkage models in processing and consuming agricultural products while successfully realizing organic agricultural models. Nhan Duc Cooperative with the certificate for organic standards now obtains the orchard productivity of 50 tons per hectare, bringing billions of dong in revenue to members. The cooperation’s annual revenue is estimated at more than VND30billion.

Till now, the whole district has also had 121 farms on animal husbandry, including 30 with hi-tech application. Most of them basically meet environmental requirements with hi-economic efficiency. Currently, there are 1.18 million chickens and 44,750 pigs being bred under hi-tech models.

Nguyen Van Thuan, Head of the district’s Division of Economics said that over the past five years, creating a strong change in people’s awareness of organic production and VietGAP was the great effort by the district. The local enterprises, cooperatives and households obviously realized that hi-tech agricultural investment is an indispensable trend for sustainable development.

Seeking stable way out

According to Mr.Thuan, consumption for the local agricultural products is relatively good. But, their trademark needs to be promoted towards long-term development.

Doan Minh Chien, the owner of Doan Minh Chien general farmstead in Hieu Liem commune said that his farmstead now has hundreds of hectares of orange, pomelo and tangerine with the annual average output of around 40 tons. Apart from domestic consumption, the farmstead has just exported its pomelo products into French market via an intermediary unit…

In terms of animal husbandry, the district’s hi-tech animal husbandry models on contract have upheld their efficiency with long-term contracts from 3 to 5 years. Especially, the local breeding households have not faced difficulties, thanks to seriously observing biosafety regulations from partners.

Possibly speaking, the district’s initial results in developing hi-tech and urban agricultural models have opened up a new way for the agricultural development of North Tan Uyen district in particular and Binh Duong in general. With logical and long-term investment, it is sure that the district will build up sustainable, modern and hi-tech agriculture.
