According to several orchards in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province, the green skin pomelo now enjoys the selling price of 38,000 – 41,000 VND (1.64-1.77 USD)  per kilogram (each fruit weighs over 1.2 kilogram), up 15,000 – 17,000 VND per kilogram comparing to the initial stage of the crop and 5,000 – 7,000 VND per kilogram comparing to one week ago.

The farmer in Giap Son commune (Luc Ngan district) harvests green skin pomelo.

This year, the district is home to 537 hectares of green skin pomelo with estimated output of 2,600 tonnes of fruits which are mostly cultivated at the communes of Thanh Hai, Hong Giang, Tru Huu, Tan Quang, Quy Son, Tan Moc and Giap Son.

Head of the district Division of Agriculture and Rural Development Tang Van Huy said: “Thanks to the farmers’ rich cultivation experience and technology application, this year crop yields high productivity with good quality and appearance. The pomelo enjoys high selling price because it is the wedding season with high demand. Meanwhile, the orchard owners almost completed harvesting the fruits, thus the price will be further increased till the end of the crop”.

Now, the farmers in Luc Ngan district harvested 70 percent of the green pomelo most of which were ordered and directly consumed at the orchard by the tradesmen to deliver to such provinces and cities of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh as well as introduce to the supermarkets of Big C and Co.opmart.

The pomelo helps bring an income of dozens of million VND to the local farmers.

The green skin pomelo in Luc Ngan district with stamp for origin traceability are showcased at the Culture - Tourism Trade and Entrepreneur Week in Bac Giang province under the integration era in 2019.

Since 2017, the People’s Committee in Luc Ngan district has supported the stamp, label and package for the local cooperatives specialized at producing and trading the fruits to introduce and promote the fruits, including green skin pomelo.

Currently, the district competent agencies have instructed the localities to care for the selected orchards of green skin pomelo to showcase in the Luc Ngan fruit fair to be scheduled on late November and early December this year.
