New traceability tech for aquaculture on deck
Washington, U.S.A.-based barcode traceability technology developer Dynamic Systems Inc. has launched its new software crafted to help seafood processors better handle, label and track their products with accuracy and efficiency.
SIMBA – short for Specialized Inventory Management with Barcode Accuracy – helps to remedy the problem of “how to process, package and label seafood with accurate yield reporting,” according to Dynamic Systems. Fish farmers and other aquaculture personnel access and use the system via touchscreen technology and tablets. Because of its versatility, processors are able to conduct automated scanning, reduce labor and reduce operational costs while enhancing reporting in real-time, said the company.
“Because each time SIMBA labels a tote or carton, that item is entered into the computer's inventory, salespeople and management will have an accurate record of current inventory with product details,” said Dynamic, of the software’s features. “At the time of shipping, the Logics feature of SIMBA tracks each carton or pallet onto a specific van or records it to a work order or sales order. A Bill of Lading is produced automatically. This feature not only saves time in the shipping process, it eliminates disputes with the customer regarding what was actually shipped,” the company explained.
By using the system, processors and farmers can increase their production speed; obtain real-time, accurate production reports; facilitate full traceability; generate real-time inventories; improve carton and pallet label yields; and expedite van loading.
