Over 17,800 tonnes of Luc Ngans orange and pomelo sold with increased price

According to Chairman of the People’s Committee in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province Nguyen Thanh Binh, as of December 11 over 17,800 tonnes of orange and pomelo were sold across the district, accounting for 34.2 percent of the total output of local citrus orchards.

Farmers in Tru Huu harvest the pomelos.

Due to the positive effect from the recent Luc Ngan fair for orange, pomelo and signature products, many enterprises and tradesmen have come to the district to purchase the fruits, hence slightly pushing up the price comparing to the early season.

The district has sold 3,150 tonnes of green skin pomelo (achieving more than 95 percent of the total productivity) at the price of 35 – 40,000 VND (1.5 – 1.7 USD) per kilogram; 10,800 tonnes of yellow flesh orange (accounting for 80.8 percent of the output) at 15 – 23,000 VND (0.64 – 0.99 USD) per kilogram that increases about 7,000 VND against the price in the early season.

Currently, the harvest season of the sweet orange and pomelo is coming with nearly 1,000 tonnes of fruit sold at 20 – 40,000 VND (0.86 – 1.72 USD) per kilogram, slightly increasing against the previous season. Besides, other fruits like Xoan orange, Red pomelo…start to be harvested.

These days, several tradesmen have come to the orchards to buy the fruits or deposit for the selected fruits in order to ensure the consumption in the last months and Lunar New Year 2019, mostly in Hanoi, Southern and Central localities.
