Pangasius output in March decreased nearly by 9% from the same period last year

Pangasius farming has been facing challenges without any sign of recovery and prices have stayed at the lowest level in the last ten years, resulting in farmers terribly worrying and hesitating to stock.

According to the Import-Export Department, prices of pangasius material of An Giang in mid-March increased 100-200 dong/kg compared to the previous week, up to 17,500-18,700 dong/kg (depending on sizes). However, it decreased as much as 10,000-10,500 dong/kg from last year and was 2,300-3,500 dong/kg lower than the production cost.

Pangasius output is estimated to reach 74.7 thousand tons in March, down 8.8% from last year and 242.8 thousand tons in Quarter I, down 3.7% compared to the same period last year.
