Under the project, more than 1,000 eels are being nursed in tanks and ponds from now until September. The project costs more than 50 million VND (2,190 USD) sourced from the province’s scientific and technological budget.

Marbled eels have a small and long body, marbled back, white belly, pointy head, slimy skin, and no fins. The fish mainly eat vegetable food, such as grass and mash.

They weigh about 2.5 kg on average after six months, pricing between 350,000 VND – 500,000 VND (15 - 22 USD) per kg.

The project aims to nurse and breed marbled eels in Bac Giang to add new species for the province’s aquaculture.
