Pressure from brackish shrimp export of over US$ 4.2 billion?

In 2018, there will be a lot of pressure on the state management of the shrimp industry, first of all is ensuring the brackish shrimp export of US$ 4.2 billion.

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vu Van Tam, in 2018, there will be a lot of pressure on the state management of the shrimp industry, first of all is ensuring brackish shrimp export of over $US4.2 billion .

This is due to the increasing impact of climate change, shrimp diseases, environmental pollution, technical barriers such as anti-dumping tax, protection of domestic production of importing markets.

However, according to the Deputy Minister, this year also shows positive signs for Vietnam shrimp industry, such as Vietnam has ensured its production and supplied sufficient healthy parent shrimps. Bac Lieu high-tech application agricultural park was approved by the Prime Minister and started construction; Shrimp production began to develop.

In order to achieve targets set out for this year, Deputy Minister Vu Van Tam has proposed the People's Committees of provinces and cities to implement well the Prime Minister’s Decision 79 / QD-TTg and the guidelines in Document No. 1623 / BNN-TCTS of MARD on the implementation of the National Action Plan for the development of the Vietnam’s shrimp industry and the development of specific plans in the localities.

In particular, localities should pay attention to increasing the productivity, quality and value of shrimp products by applying advanced technology; not using chemicals, antibiotics; and accelerating reorganization of production in the direction of cooperation and association.

Deputy Minister Vu Van Tam assigned the Directorate of Fisheries to strengthen the responsibility inspection of the management of the quality of imported parent shrimps allocated to localities; to collaborate in quality inspection of shrimp seeds, and strictly handle violations in the production of shrimp seeds and publicize them on the website of the Directorate of Fisheries; at the same time, support Minh Phu Group to build a high-tech application complex on shrimp in Kien Giang.

Department of Animal Health is assigned to coordinate with localities to strengthen quarantine, shrimp disease prevention and remove the quarantine barrier in import markets and support export enterprises

In addition, Vice Minister Vu Van Tam also asked the provincial People's Committees to direct the competent authorities to strictly control the circulation and trading of floating shrimp seeds, especially the spontaneous shrimp seed markets; and manage well the quality of input materials and impurities injected into shrimp materials.
