Quang Tri (VNA) – The central coastal province of Quang Tri has been adopting a number of preferential policies to attract investment in high-tech agriculture for the 2018-2021 period.

Accordingly, businesses investing in this field will be supported with 50 percent of their cost for land recovery and compensation.

The province will also offer free land leases or remove the agricultural tax for enterprises with production cooperation contracts during their projects’ first five years.

Some foreign firms have been quick to make investments in Quang Tri’s high-tech agriculture sector.

For example, Japan’s ISE Food has already invested in processing cattle feed and building chicken farms in Trieu Phong and Vinh Linh districts.

Sumitomo, another Japanese company, is supporting the production of melons with the application of high technology in Gio Linh district.

The promotion of investment in high-tech agriculture is expected to help the province restructure its agriculture industry towards increasing high value-added products and dealing with the effects of climate change.
