TH Group imports high-productivity cattle

Nearly 1,300 heads of high-productivity HF cattle have been imported from the US by the TH Group and arrived at Cua Lo Port in north-central Nghe An province on April 12, the largest import to date.

The cows are to be sent to the TH dairy farm in Nghe An’s Nghia Dan district.

“We imported the high-producing HF cows from the US, which is a new step in our efforts to improve TH’s milk productivity and quality to meet market demand,” said Mr. Tal Cohen, General Director of the TH Milk Food Joint Stock Company.

The TH dairy farm has been operating since 2009 and has imported HF cattle from New Zealand on 17 occasions. The farm has 45,000 heads, of which 22,000 are lactating, with an average capacity of over 30 liters per head per day, the highest in Vietnam and ASEAN.

Vietnam’s dairy market is predicted to double in size by 2020, reaching $8.2 billion, as the population is expected to increase by 5 million people and dairy consumption by a compounded annual growth rate of 7 per cent. It is now controlled by dominant brands such as Vinamilk and TH True Milk.

Early this month, TH Group announced a plan to build a modern fruit processing plant in the central highlands province of Dak Lak with input materials primarily grown on land belonging to the Dak Lak Forestry and Food Processing Limited Liability Company and from joint ventures with farmers and cooperatives in the province.

It also plans to invest in a solar power plant with a maximum capacity of 1,117 MW on 1,117 ha belonging to Dak Lak Forestry and Food Processing Limited Liability Company.

The investment will be implemented in two phases: the first having a capacity of 117 MW and the second 1,000 MW. To speed up its investments, the Group will survey the location of the fruit processing plant.

Regarding the solar power project, it has proposed that the province decide to approve the investment and submit it to the government for approval.

In February, TH Group opened its TH School in Chua Boc Street, Dong Da district, Hanoi. It was the first school in the TH School system, which will eventually provide kindergarten, primary school, junior high school, high school, college, university and vocational training school studies.
