Training on establishing and issuing codes for export rice growing areas
On October 7 and 8, the Plant Protection Department (MARD) and An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development organized an online training course on 'establishing and issuing codes for export rice growing areas'

This is the first training course proposed by An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, on guiding the establishment and issuance of export growing area codes for the period of 2021-2025.
Attendees of the training course include 84 technical staffs from the Crop Production and Plant Protection Sub-Department, Center for Agricultural Extension, Technical Center for Agricultural Services (An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) and several units from Loc Troi Group.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Department said: Currently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has a policy to guide localities on establishing and managing growing areas to ensure the quality of cultivated products, traceability and change farming practices, raise production awareness towards professionalism.
Thereby, improving the value of agricultural products in the domestic as well as international markets, towards a transparent, sustainable and responsible agriculture.
In particular, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will establish a few key material areas for export, strictly manage the issued growing area codes and support localities to develop new growing area codes and proactively connect with the market. Simultaneously, speed up the negotiation process and open export markets for different types of crop products.
On that basis, the Plant Protection Department organized a training course to provide information on the inspection, monitoring and evaluation of rice growing areas. Followed by a training courses for areas growing vegetables, fresh fruits, tea, pepper, coffee... in different localities.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong also expressed her expectation that the training course will provide the trainees with sufficient knowledge related to the establishment of a growing area that meets the requirements of the importing country. Specifically, effective application of farming processes, safe seeds, fertilizers and pesticides usage, traceability ensurance.
