Vegetables, fruits gain trade surplus of $452 million
The vegetable and fruit industry posted a trade surplus of US$452.2 million in the first two months this year, according to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Vegetable and fruit export turnover approximated US$354.4 million in February and $737.5 million in the first two months of 2018, a year on year increase of 75.2 percent.
Top ten import markets of Vietnam include China, the US, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan (China) and Russia.
During the first two months, vegetable and fruit import turnover was $285.3 million, increasing 75.2 percent over the same period last year. Top ten nations exporting to Vietnam include Thailand, China, the US, Australia, Myanmar, South Korea, New Zealand, South Africa, India and Brazil.
In related news, the General Department of Vietnam Customs reported that the country’s export import turnover was estimated to reach $25.9 billion in February and top $66 billion in the first two months this year, increasing 19 percent over the same period last year.
Of these, export hit $33.62 billion, up 22.9 percent while import approximated $32.5 billion, up 15.3 percent.
Major export items are phones and parts, garment and textile products, computers, footwear, wooden products, seafood, coffee and crude oil. Import items are computer equipment, electronic products, machine and equipment, phones, cloth, petrol, steel, garment and textile materials, leather and footwear and chemicals.
