Farmers to get financial support for culled pigs

CAN THO – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on June 27 issued Decision 793 providing farmers up to VND30,000 per kilogram of pigs culled due to African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks.

Under the decision, most pig farmers, households, cooperatives, units and organizations will receive VND25,000 per kilogram for the infected pigs from the supporting funds.

Farmers who had to cull their sows and boars will receive VND30,000 per kilogram.

Small and medium-sized husbandry enterprises will be given VND8,000 per kilogram for young pigs and pigs for slaughter as well as VND10,000 per kilogram for sows and boars.

However, support for enterprises will not exceed 30% of their losses after backup funds and insurance compensation are used.

The decision also stipulates that the chairpeople of the municipal and provincial governments will bear responsibility for the organization and distribution of supporting funds for the prevention and combat of ASF.
