Hoa Binh to promote processing, trade promotion for farm produce

Hoa Binh province has a lot of advantages in the production of agro-forestry and aquaculture products. Relatively close to Hanoi and other northern provinces, Hoa Binh’s agriculture products have found its way to these markets. The province has identified 9 main products and focuses its resources to develop these products. By now, a number of concentrated production areas have been formed, helping to create stable supply of raw materials for processing and export.

In the locality, there are 1,000 facilities, including enterprises, cooperatives and households, engaging in processing and preserving farm produce. Some have exported agricultural products such as banana, dragonfruit, purple sugarcane, bamboo shoot, tea, cassava and wood to China, Kazakhstan, Middle East, but at small quantity.

The Resolution of the 17thProvincial Party Congress identifies agriculture as the foundation and pillar of the economy in order to successfully restructure agriculture towards higher added value and sustainable development. Therefore, it is necessary to implement solutions to enhance post-harvest processing and preservation as well as trade promotion to create a leverage for the agricultural sector.

Hoa Binh will prioritise Hanoi and nearby areas as well as export in its trade promotion work. The province will also mobilize all resources and economic sectors to invest in production – processing – trade promotion of agricultural products. From now to 2025, Hoa Binh will invest in the upgrade of 20 percent of processing and preserving cooperatives and enterprises, with at least 10 facilities meeting export requirements. The province will also upgrade 9 medium-sized processing factories to large scale, meeting export requirements.

In the time to come, Hoa Binh will attract investment in processing and preservation facilities in order to modernise technology, thus creating high-quality, competitive goods meeting the demand of the domestic and foreign markets. Besides, the locality will focus on trade promotion and consumption of agricultural products; expand domestic market, establish distribution channels to promote the sales of local products; and reach to more export markets with the aim of increasing state budget revenues, and incomes of farmers.
