Top ten destinations of Vietnamese seafood in the first half of 2020
Vietnam saw a decline in exports in most markets in the first six months of 2020. The US, Japan, EU, China, and Korea continue to be traditional markets of Vietnamese seafood.
Vietnam brought in $3.6 billion from exporting seafood, down 7.4% from the same period last year, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. The seafood export volume reached $719.2 million in June, up 12% from the previous months but slightly down 0.5% from June 2019.
Vietnam saw a decline in export volume in most markets in the first half of the year, with a slump recorded in Arad Saudi ($0.04 million worth, down 76%), Iraq ($2.5 million worth, down 61%), and India (5.5 million worth, down 60%).
Noticeable sales were recorded in some markets such as Cambodia with $29.6 million (up 114%), Switzerland with $19.3 million (up 48%), and Pakistan with $4.1 million (up 25%).
The US, Japan, EU, China, and Korea continued to be Vietnam’s traditional markets. The top was Japan with volume reaching $668.5 million, accounting for nearly 19% of Vietnam’s seafood export volume and declining by 2% compared to the same period last year. The second was the US with volume slightly growing by 0.5%, reaching $653.6 million and accounting for 18%. The EU reached $526 million, decreasing by 12% and accounting for 15%. China reached $482.5 million, up 1% and Korea reached $351 million, down 6%.
