Vietnams sales to China to go on at double-digit growth

Exports of Vietnamese shrimp and pangasius are expected to continue double-digit growth in the coming years, according to the country’s Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors.

China is expected to be one of the key growth regions for Vietnamese sales in the future (see earlier in blog), and pangasius sales have already soared in 2017.

Trade barriers such as anti-dumping tariffs in the US, and stricter regulations in markets like the EU and Japan, are prompting more and more companies to switch to China instead, said Vasep’s Le Hang.

However, there remains a chance that China could tighten regulations on food safety and quarantine in that time, which may limit Vietnam’s potential sales, she noted.
