Feeding Calculator

Feeds is among the largest operational cost of shrimp farming and every efforts should be made to ensure efficient utilization of feeds for growth. The feed is also the initial source of pollutants; hence, overfeeding or poor quality feeds can severely impact water quality and production. Feed management strategies should therefore be aimed at optimizing feed inputs, reducing feed conversion ratios and reducing the potential impact on the culture and effluent water. The Feeding Calculator helps farmers find out how much amount of feeds should you feed your shrimp ponds.

- Time to check trays hrs
- The amount of food that can change according to the level used in tray
Feed quantity can be changed in cycles of shrimp molting
- Reduce or stop feeding when the weather bad, sick shrimp
- Temperatures below 23°C, the recommended food intake by more than 40%
- Environmental indicators such as dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, pH, temperature… will affect the catch of shrimp bait, food intake should be adjusted accordingly.

Feeding Calculator is not designed to replace a professional nutritionist. Rather, it is designed to be used as a management tool for producers to more closely monitor the nutritional needs and feed costs of their operation. When used correctly, the program will help shrimp farmers estimate feed inputs correctly. Feed management strategies will be optimizing feed inputs, reducing feed conversion ratios (FCR) and reducing the potential impact on the culture and effluent water. Improvements in FCR have resulted in significant reductions in feed costs and subsequent improvement on the return on investment.
