The new garlic species is scientifically named Aspidistra cadamensis N.S. Ly & Tillich, discovered at the highest mountain of Quang Ngai province.
According to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), ca dam garlic is a perennial grass of 80 cm tall, non-branching. Their flower vases are small bell-shaped, white outside face or creamy white with purple blotches on the one third of the vase. The pistil head is conical, refined pistil diameter of 6-7 mm, three lobes hug tight.
The new flower species grows into populations under the broadleaf of broad-leaved forest in the mountains of Ca Dam, in the area of Tay Tra and Tra Bong districts (Quang Ngai), at altitudes from 800 m to over 1,000 m. This is endemic species of the flora in Vietnam.
