Binh Thuan has nearly 30,000 hectares of dragon fruit, 30% meeting VietGAP

The total dragon fruit cultivation area of Binh Thuan province reached 29,270 hectares in late 2018, an increase of 5.45% compared with that of 2017, according to report of agriculture and rural development sector.

Due to stable prices of dragon fruit for export during the year, farmers in many localities have expanded growing areas.

Statistics show that, dragon fruit planting areas raised by 19.5 hectares in Phan Thiet city, 9 hectares in La Gi town, 86 hectares in Tuy Phong district, 1,019 hectares in Bac Binh district, 20 hectares in Ham Thuan Bac district, 124 hectares in Ham Thuan nam district, 3 hectares in Tanh Linh district, and 233.5 hectares in Ham Tan district.

In 2018, Dragon fruit productivity achieved 591,965 tons, up 9.57% (51,713 tons) against that of last year. Up to the end of 2018, as many as 10,146.9 hectares of dragon fruit realized VietGap standards, accounting for 30% of the total dragon fruit growing area.
