Dau Tiengs agriculture developed in right direction
Dau Tieng district’s agricultural sector in the first three months of 2019 continued reaching stable development. Particularly, the district’s agricultural production value was more than VND589.4billion, up 5.6% compared to the corresponding period last year. The result significantly contributed to helping the district well fulfill its targets of this year’s sector.

Dau Tieng district’s agricultural sector in the first three months of 2019 faced some obstacles. But, with the efforts by the local authorities at all levels and people, the sector still maintained stable growth.
Vo Trung Nghia, Head of the district’s Division of Economics said that under a policy encouraging the restructuring of agricultural sector in association with changing growth models, developing agriculture towards goods production with large scale, the district has sped up the shift of plan and animal structure towards added value increase and sustainable development. The whole district now has 650 hectares of fruit trees, up 12% compared to the same period last year. The district’s main fruit trees are mangosteen, durian, rambutan and green-skin pomelo.
The district has also fostered a specialized area on growing fruit trees in association with ecotourism development in Thanh Tuyen commune. Additionally, the district has implemented a model on intensive farming for citrus fruit trees meeting VietGAP standards with combination between product production and consumption in 2 communes of Minh Hoa and Minh Thanh.
In addition, the district has encouraged individuals and enterprises to promote hi-tech and urban agricultural models. The whole district is now home to 110 hectares of farming land with hi-tech application, including 95 hectares used to realize a banana growing project from Dau Tieng Rubber One-Member Co.Ltd. and U&I Agriculture Joint Stock Company and the remainder from the local people.
Ornamental creature development is among the district’s top three priorities. In order to develop popular ornamental creatures like orchid, fish, bonsai…, the district’s Ornamental Creature Association is set up to gather experienced artisans. The whole district now has around 12 hectares of land for ornamental creature development. Some effective models include Mai Quoc Thai orchid farm in Minh Hoa commune’s Hoa Loc hamlet, Tan Hung mushroom farm in Minh Hoa commune…The district’s ornamental fish models are mainly in 2 communes of Thanh Tuyen and Thanh An. On average, the district’s annual ornamental creature production value reaches around VND1billion per hectare with the annual profit of VND600million per hectare.
The district is also taking solutions in a synchronous way, aiming to promote the local agricultural sector towards sustainable development. Along with this, the district’s authorities at all levels, enterprises and people need to be more drastic to create a breakthrough for the local agricultural sector.
It is known that the whole district is home to 215 breeding farms with 106,060 heads of cattle and 2.9 million heads of poultry. The district also has 15 households breeding wild animals and 116,000 square meters of land for aquaculture.
