Long An: 12 more hi-tech vegetable production models to be implemented by year-end

As per the Long An province of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's plan, it will cooperate with relevant agencies to implementing 12 more high-tech vegetable production models in Can Giuoc, Can Duoc, Duc Hoa districts and Tan An city in 2018.

It will also launch more stores selling clean vegetables, aiming to help local consumers access to safe agricultural produces.

Until now, the province has had 14 high-tech vegetable production models with the total area of over 630 hectares. As a result, local farmers have learned how to cultivate safe vegetables in accordance with VietGAP, GlobalGAP standards and to apply growing in net houses with low volume irrigation system.

The models have initially acquired some achievements such as the amount of inorganic fertilizer decreased by 100 to 400 kg per hectare, productivity increased, plant pests and diseases have also considered under control.

The quality of products has been ensured and local farmers have earned high profits from farmings by VND 2 to 7 million per 1,000 sq meters
