Luc Nam custard apple enjoys high price

It is the harvest season of custard apple in several localities in Luc Nam district, Bac Giang province. Though the cultivation area increases, the fruit output is lower than the previous crop, helping boost up the selling price and attract many tradesmen nationwide.

This year, the farmers applied the advanced technology into cultivation such as timely caring, men made pollination and pruning to prevent custard apples from ripening concurrently.

Despite a lower productivity comparing to the same period last year, the fruit is bigger, more beautiful with higher quality and enjoy the better price of 27,000 – 40,000 VND (1.16 – 1.72 USD) per kilogram at the orchard.

The local custard apple orchards have drawn many tradesmen to purchase the fruit then consume at the provinces and cities of Bac Ninh, Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and others.

The custard apples are grown in over 1,700 hectares in Luc Nam district, up 20 hectares against last year figures, mostly focusing in the communes of Nghia Phuong, Huyen Son, Cuong Son and Dong Phu.

This year crop is expected to turn out over 14,000 tonnes of fruits valued at more than 300 billion VND (12.8 million USD).

The district People’s Committee completed the documentation of geological indication for Luc Nam custard apple which provides an opportunity for the fruit to firmly stand on the market and create a stable income for the farmers.
