Tan Yen expands fruit cultivation under VietGAP procedure

To date, Tan Yen district  (Bac Giang province) is home to 3,417 hectares of fruit trees, 2,600 hectares of which were harvested with output of 28,300 tonnes of fruits and estimated value of over 600 billion VND (25.8 million USD). 

Tan Yen district remains and expands the fruit cultivation area under VietGAP.

Particularly, lychee covers 1,329 hectares and yields about 14,784 tonnes of fruits (12,950 tonnes of early ripen lychee and 1,834 tonnes of late ripen lychee), up 13.7 percent comparing to the same period last year with estimated value of 443.5 billion VND (over 19 million USD); longan covers 421 hectares with output of 1,660 tonnes of fruits and worth 33.2 billion VND (1.4 million USD); star apple covers 42 hectares with productivity of 190 tonnes of fruits and value of 6.1 billion VND (262,000 USD) among others.

Notably, the district has gradually expanded the fruit cultivation area under VietGAP standard up to 330 hectares, including 278 hectares of early ripen lychee, 33.5 hectares of guava, 15 hectares of pomelo, 5 hectares of star apple.

Also, the district remains and expands the fruit cultivation area under VietGAP to ensure the food safety quality with total area of 1,200 hectares.
