According to the Việt Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), until the end of November 2017, the country’s total export turnover of fishery products reached VND 7.6 billion, an increase of 18% compared to the same period in 2016. It is expected that the fishery product exports in 2017 will hit the target with US$ 8.3 billion, an increase of 18% compared to 2016.

Of which, Tra fish exports in the first 11 months reached US$ 1.6 billion, an increase of 5% compared to the same period in 2016 and was expected to hit the target with nearly US$ 1.8 billion, an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2016.

Also, VASEP said that this year the price of raw Tra fish material continuously increased in the last months of 2017. Tra fish production is still growing strongly and many areas are being harvested to meet the demand of processing plants.

Tra fish production in the last months of the year continuously increased due to export market demand. The price of Tra fish products is stable compared to previous months, and varies from VND 26,000 to 28,000 per kilo. The breeding area of Tra fish in Mekong Delta provinces in the first 11 months of 2017 reached 5,822 ha, an increase of 2% compared to the same period in 2016. The output in the first 11 months of the year reached 1,207.5 thousand tons (up 4.3%).

According to some businesses breeding and processing Tra fish, currently, the fish raw material in the Mekong Delta is not sufficient and the quality of breeding fish is not high. The Businesses continuously promoted exports in the last months. It is expected that the price of Tra fish will increase.
