Vietnam ranks first in tea suppliers of Taiwan

According to the Department of Trade Statistics of Taiwan (China), the territory imported more than 24,000 tons of tea with total value of US$ 60 million in the first nine months of 2019. 

Accordingly, the average price of imported tea was estimated at US$ 2,473.2 per ton.

Vietnam is the leading tea provider of Taiwan. 

In the first nine months of the year, the S- shaped country exported approximately 14, 200 tons of tea to this market, worth US$ 22.55 million, an increase of 6.1 percent in volume and 8.3 percent in value compared with the same period of last year.

The average price of imported tea from Vietnam was US$ 1,585.5 per ton, up 2 percent over the same period in 2018. 

In the first nine months, Taiwan imported 7,500 tons of green tea, worth US$ 20.5 million. 

The territory imported green tea mostly from Vietnam and Japan; specifically, import from Vietnam accounted for 84.1 percent of the total imported green tea to Taiwan and green tea import from Japan accounted for 13 percent.
